A new blog started by people from the Caucasus Mountain region is trying to dispel stereotypes and preconceived notions about a word with a complicated history -- “Caucasian.”

Titled This Is Caucasian, the blog is driven by editors and contributors who are hoping to start a dialogue about Caucasian culture and heritage, while also reclaiming a much co-opted term. Though many in the West associate the word with whiteness and Christian, European heritage, the term Caucasian historically refers to individuals who hail from the Central Asian Caucasus' region, a place defined by religious and ethnic diversity.
